Opis

The international edition of the “11 mm Fussballfilmfestival” football film festival will take place in Wrocław at the Lower Silesian Film Centre (DCF) from 31 May to 3 June 2012.

The festival is normally held in Berlin, and that’s where its ninth edition will take place in March at the “Babylon” cinema in the very centre of the German capital. Justo over two months later, just before the beginning of the European football championships, the festival will arrive in Wrocław, as well as in Kharkiv in Ukraine. – Some of the films we are planning to show are from the countries, whose teams will be playing in Wrocław as part of Euro 2012, i.e. the Czech Republic, Russia and Greece – says Jakub Kurowski from the “Football Fans Together” project, who worked very hard to get the festival to come to Wrocław.

The films shown during the festival include feature films, documentaries, as well as animated films. These are not only films for adult football fans, but for children as well. One of the festival days will feature a selection of the best films from the festival’s 9-year history. The event, according to its originator Birger Schmidt, is the world’s first festival devoted entirely to the theme of football. Another screening to be held in Wrocław is that of the famous “match on the water”, i.e. the semi-final of the 1974 World Championships played between Poland and Germany, the broadcast rights of which are held by German television. This screening is to be accompanied by a meeting with one of the players who played in the match, while other screenings will be followed by meetings with the film authors. The organisers are also planning to set up a festival club in Szewska street, in the headquarters of the “Football Fans Together” project.
