The zoo in Wrocław is one of the most popular in Poland thanks to the TV show broadcast (showed for many years) “With the camera among animals” (“Z kamerą wśród zwierząt” ), presented by Hanna and Antoni Gucwińscy. But its history goes back to the 19th century, as it was established in 1865. Even though from time to time it disappeared from the map of Wrocław (in 1921 there was a park in this place, then in the1930s the zoo was reconstructed and modernised only to be almost totally destroyed in 1945), in 1948 it was opened again (in Polish Wrocław) and visitors can still enjoy it.
The first director was Karol Łukaszewicz, then Antoni Gucwiński and since 2007 Radosław Ratajszczak. The zoo in Wrocław is one of the biggest in the world.
